My Australia Itinerary

My Mom’s childhood best friend lives in Sydney Australia and usually flies to the US to visit us and then to Canada to visit her family and for as long as I’ve known her she has asked us to fly to Australia to visit her. She finally gave us her ultimatum to visit her. She […]

Day 5 Meals: Chinese Dim Sum and Vietnamese Dinner

Melbourne – Day 5 – Part 2 On our last full day in Melbourne we basically did 4 things: we had Chinese Dim Sum and Vietnamese dinner and Brighton Beach and rested in the suburbs of Sunshine Melbourne. It was still quite a long day filled with things that are kind of familiar and yet […]

Brighton Beach and the Colorful Bathing Boxes

Melbourne – Day 5 – Part 1. We took the train from Flinders Station to Bright Beach Station and then walked all the way Brighton Beach and the colorful bathing boxes. According to Google Maps, it’s a 1.6km 16-20 minute walk from Brighton Beach Station to Brighton Beach and the colorful bathing boxes.

After spending an afternoon catching up (and meeting my relatives) we went to dinner at IGG International Buffet located in Melbourne Docklands. We arrived a little early stayed outside and enjoyed the view just outside […]

Degraves Street, Cafe Andiamo CBD Melbourne

Melbourne – Day 4 – Part 2 I read about a Parisian styled laneway with lots of coffee and Italian food before leaving for Australia, but with so much going on, I kind of forgot about this place. That was until we stumbled upon this laneway the previous day as we were exploring the other […]

Eureka Tower Melbourne

Melbourne – Day 4 – Part 1 It’s not the tallest building in the world, it’s not the tallest building in Australia either but it is the highest public vantage point in a building in the Southern Hemisphere at 285 m (935 ft). Eureka Tower in Melbourne yields amazing views of Melbourne (at least it really is the […]

When we arrived, we were immediately seated. I was pretty surprised because I was told we didn’t have reservations. There were quite a few people in the lobby area waiting. I was later told that we literally had out big table for 1 hour.

The Laneways of CBD Melbourne

Melbourne – Day 3 – Part 4 Laneways are the (not) scary, (not) ugly, (not) dirty back alley ways of Melbourne. Between the buildings are many (often cobblestone) laneways and lots of graffiti. Without even knowing it, you’ll notice these laneways throughout the CBD (or not). I basically noticed that the sides of many buildings […]

CBD: Flinders Station, Federation Square, and the Public Art in Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne – Day 3 – Part 3 Now that I’ve been to Sydney and Melbourne, I remember a few things that are uniquely Melbourne (in my opinion): the cable cars that run through CBD, and the street art (and the laneways…in my next post). We stayed just across the Yarra River near the Crown Casino […]

HuTong Dumpling Bar: Chinatown CBD Melbourne

Melbourne – Day 3 – Part 2 14-16 Market Lane Melbourne, VIC http://www.hutong.com.au/ Auntie knew exactly what she wanted for lunch and guided us to HuTong Dumpling Bar. HuTong is an area in Beijing China that consists of small alley ways (kind of similar to the laneways in Melbourne but very different culturally). Tucked in […]
